Franciscan Contemplative Prayer Group

Statue of Francis at San Domiano, Assisi, overlooking Umbrian Valley.

For all who wish to form a community of prayer in the footprints of Francis and Clare.

Francis prayed often at San Damiano, a dilapidated church outside Assisi. Here Francis heard the voice from the Cross: “Francis, Francis, repair my Church, which you can see is falling into ruin.”

“Francis and Clare call their followers to prayer with a decidedly contemplative dimension — to be present to God who is present to all creatures is prayer.” – Rule and Life of the Brothers and Sisters of Third Order Regular and Commentary, p 45

Mt. LaVerna, Site of Francis receiving Stigmata of Christ

Francis spent nearly half of his converted life in nature retreats. This is a cross on Mt. LaVerna where Francis spent 40 day more than once. Here Francis received the Stigmata of Christ two years before his death.

Francis is said to have become “prayer”.
