Mother Magdalen Damen, foundress, carried St. Francis’ charism of simplicity and service into the world of her day. She lived in a spirit of humility, penance and love. Her trust in God led her to a life of prayer and service.
Our Associate Program is for persons who are interested in deepening their Gospel lives after the example of Saint Francis of Assisi and associating themselves with our mission, ministries, and prayer. This program provides a viable way of addressing the mutual need for support, sharing and growth for the Associate Members and the Sisters. Through this shared participation in our Franciscan mission, Associates and Sisters strive together to make the presence of Jesus more deeply felt in a graced, but wounded world cherished by God.
Who can become an Associate?
Anyone interested in being associated with the Sisters of St. Francis and the Gospel spirituality of Francis of Assisi and our foundress, Mother Magdalen Damen. This is not an alternative to the vowed life within our Congregation nor is it a part of or a substitute for the Franciscan Third Order Secular. Rather, it is a means of incorporating lay women and men more fully in the charism and mission of the Sisters of Sacred Heart Province.
